Summertime and Lightening Up

The weather is really heating up here and I find myself wanting to lighten up. I would love to lose a few pounds and I figure summer is a good time to do it. I've been eating lighter, more salads, smoothies and fresh juices and I love it.

I really love fresh, in season fruits and veggies. Strawberries are my favorite and they are plentiful right now. I love them in just about anything but I think my favorite is in smoothies. It's a great way to start the day especially when it's hot out and you don't feel like something heavy.

So we'll see how it goes, with any luck I'll lose a few extra pounds and get into shape. If not I'll at least enjoy the tastiness of it all.

Color, Feng Shui and Happiness

I've always loved color, bright colorful things have always made me happy. My clothes, my home and even my food. I never really understood why . Certain colors more than others, but I need lots of color around me all the time.

A few years ago I learned about feng shui and how the energy of our surroundings effects all aspects of our lives. Color is a big part of that. Paint a room or get new colorful curtains or some new throw pillows and it can change your whole out look. Or wear your favorite color shirt or nail polish or jewelry and it can really lift your spirits.

Now I've done a lot of reading on the subject and found at times it was confusing and would drive me crazy trying to figure it all out. Not at all what feng shui is supposed to be about. Recently I discovered the tao of Dana fengshuidana. She has a way of simplifying it all, making it so much easier to figure out.She helps you understand how to make you house comfortable for you, to make into what feels right for you and that can make a real difference in how you feel.  I always knew I needed lots of color and it seems as I get older I crave it even more. Here's the proof.

Sunshiney Day

It's a beautiful day here in my world ! The sun is shining, the birds are singing, you couldn't ask for a more beautiful day. I'm so happy to see the sunshine! Hope your day is beautiful too! B:)

Rainy Spring

Once again it's raining here in my world, the second day in a row. This is one of the wettest springs we've had in a long time. I have beautiful flowers blooming but the rain is really rough on them. The grass is growing like crazy and our puppy isn't crazy about walking in the rain all the time, but what are you going to do? You just have to make the best of it.

The good news is that it's supposed to end soon and we'll be back to sunshine once again. But for now I'm spending time inside, doing some baking and watching movies. Not a bad way to spend a Sunday.

Beautifully Hot Day

It seems we've jumped right into summer the last couple of days with temps in the 80s and 90s. I love it ! I've been outside a lot this week and it's been wonderful.Lots of time on the front porch swing, my favorite spot and on the screened porch. We've taken walks at night and looked at all the stars in the sky, I love to walk on warm nights. Sleeping with the windows open and feeling the cool night air, hearing the crickets outside the window. Then awaking in the morning to the sound of the birds in the trees as the sun slowly rises  lighting up the room. Such a wonderful time of year and we're just getting started.

Traveling the World

I live in a small town in a rural area. I spend a lot of time looking at facebook and other blogs from around the world, I see so many beautiful places that I'd love to visit. I've not traveled a lot and never outside the U.S. and there are so many places I would love to go.I love to look at pictures from all around the world. It really makes you realize how big and beautiful the world really is.

It's easy to forget sometimes that there is so much out there beyond your little part of the world. We get busy with life and especially when you live in a small, secluded area you kind of forget the rest of the world exists. But it does, there is so much out there to see and do. So much beyond my little world.

I love to look at other parts of the world, to see the beauty of it and see what life is like there.How people live, what they do, what they eat. I love to see how different cultures do things differently than we do here.I would love to be able to travel around the world and see it first hand, be a part of it. But since that isn't an option right now, I'll continue to admire it from afar, enjoying the beauty of the world through the eyes of others.

Weekend

Hello to you all. Hope you're all having a great weekend so far. It's nice here today, a mixture of sun and clouds, it's warm and a gentle breeze blows through the windows.

Yesterday was a very warm day followed by lots of thunderstorms last night.Lots of rain and lightening to light up the night sky. I've always been fascinated with storms, even as a little kid I would stand at a window and watch the lightening, wondering where it went. I still love to watch them, especially at night. There's just something about them, so powerful with the potential to be so destructive, yet so beautiful at the same time. Mother nature certainly puts on a beautiful light show.  

Today it's nice again and the birds are singing in the trees and the only sign of last nights storms are the puddles on the ground.The storms will come again to refresh us and to remind us of the power of mother nature, but in the meantime I'll enjoy the sunshine and birdsong and fresh clean air.

Where ever you are and whatever you're doing, I hope you're having a day filled with lots of sunshine and beauty and that you find something that inspires you. B. :)

Lovely Day

Hello everyone, hope you've all had a wonderful day today. It's been beautiful, warm and sunny here today, most welcome after three days of rain. I actually was able to get outside and enjoy it today.

The sky was beautiful and blue and filled with fluffy white clouds, perfect. The warmth of the sun felt so good after the recent cooler days. Everything is bright and green and alive.The birds were singing, happy I'm sure that the sun had returned.Flowers were blooming everywhere and it was so wonderful to be out in it all.

And now the sun has set and the night sky is filled with stars, but the air is warm and feels wonderful as it drifts through the open windows. I love this time of year, warm days and cool night filled with the sound of frogs in our creek. It's days like today that I want to spend as much time as I can outside soaking it all up.

Rain

It's the third day in a row of rain here and I have to admit it's getting old. I'm ready for the sun to come back. We've had brief glimpses of it, but the rain keeps coming back On the positive side everything is lush and green and when the heat of summer is here we'll be wishing for the rain. But that's what we do a lot of the time, we wish for what we don't have instead of being happy with what we do have. And it's perfectly normal to want things, it's what keeps us moving forward, but we need to appreciate where we are now. So that is what I'm trying to do, appreciate the rain for the life it gives and know the sun will shine again!

New week

Good morning and welcome to a new week! Monday is here again and with it comes a new start. A fresh new week to shape it into whatever you want it to be. I think that I'm going to decide to make it a wonderful week.

It's a cool and rainy day here and I'd much prefer the sun to shine, but I'm going to choose to see the beauty in it.I know the sun will be back and it will be warm again, so I'll listen to the rain and appreciate the life that it brings to everything. Because without it nothing would be here and it makes me really appreciate those warm sunny days.

There really is beauty in everything, after the rain comes the rainbow.A little reward of beauty after the rain is gone.

Beautiful Day for a Walk

It was a simply beautiful day today. A perfect day for a walk. We took off this morning with our little dog to spend some time in nature.To get a little exercise and some fresh air. It's really amazing how green the trees and grass are now. Just in a couple of weeks things really came to life. It's amazing how quickly things change.

It seems I waited forever for winter to leave and spring to arrive. And even though the weather is still a little slower than normal to warm, I know that in a blink of an eye summer will be upon us.

Before we know it it will be time for picnics, chasing fireflies and long hot summer nights.

But life is like that,time goes by fast and before you realize it another year has past.So I wish to try to enjoy each and every day and really appreciate the beauty that is all around me.So many lovely things to see, to smell, to touch. We just need to take time to smell the roses.
