Gratitude

I've been thinking a lot lately about all the things I have to be grateful for. There are the obvious things like health and family, but there is so much more to it than that. There's being grateful for the the little things and the mundane things you do everyday.

Be grateful for having laundry to do because it means you have clothes to wear.
Be grateful that you have to clean your house because it means you have a home to live in.
Be grateful that you have to cook dinner because it means you have food to eat.
Be grateful for having to get up early to go to work because it means you have a job.
Be grateful for washing dishes because it means you ate today.
Be grateful for the rainy days as well as the sunny ones because it means you're alive.
Be grateful for exercising because it means you're healthy and able to walk.

There are so many things to show gratitude for, the things we do everyday that we wish we didn't have to do. Not everything we do is fun or something we really want to do, but if we can change the way we look at them then maybe we can find a way to appreciate them. It's easy to complain about having to do things we don't want to do, but if you're not careful you can lose those things and then you'll realize that it wasn't so bad having to do them. Complain about work then lose your job, complain about cooking and you find yourself unable to pay for food. We don't think about these things until it's too late sometimes and then we realize how lucky you were.

So take time to appreciate what you do have even if it's not exactly how you'd like it to be. Show some gratitude for all that's in your life and there will be so much more headed your way to be grateful for. Attitude is everything.
